- I lost my original dell computer after a power surge so I reformatted the hard drive and changed the motherboard. I reinstalled windows xp. Usually it gives you 30 days before you must activate your account, but in the same day I reinstalled, I can’t log-on because Windows is saying my 30 days is up. I may have changed the date/time and I think this may have something to do with it. When I tried to change it back, I still couldn’t log on. So (finally) my question: Where do I get a confirmation id (7 sets of 6 digits for a total of 42 numbers)??? I tried contacting MS but they say my version is already registered, which it was, however, the other computer is dead. RobinBattineau, your profile says that I cannot email you???
- Is there a way to lock a program in windows XP? In my case i want to lock Bitcomet so when I’m downloading stuff nobody can open it and mess with the download speed. I want to lock it when is the taskbar downloading something I don’t want to lock windows, just an specific program. Like for example in Schools there’s programs and stuff they lock so nobody can mess with it.

NewEgg.com. $50 for XP Home. A bit more for Pro though. NewEgg is awesome, just ordered a bunch of stuff from there on Monday!
I agree with Stargate. Newegg usually has OEM versions for really cheap. Sometimes they might make you buy a piece of hardware, but usually thats not the case
there is a a better way (EVERYTHING is FREE and legal (Just supply the internet and some hard disk space))
1. Search for uTorrent
2. Download it
3. download Windows XP on a torrent site (XP’s in a .torrent file)
4. WAIT for the download to finish
5.1. (IF you have a CD/DVD/??-???/???-??? Burner) Burn the file (if inside an .ISO get ImgBurn, otherwise COPY all the files into your Drive and burn it)
5.2 (IF you don’t have a CD/… Burner) Get a Virtual Machine at:
5.2A Microsoft (Virtual PC)
5.2B (the Torrent Sites (so that you can get VMWare (Workstation) FREE)
