Edward88 asked:
Ok so i have a black macbook 2.4ghz and I installed windows xp on my macbook. Installed windows xp sp2 oem because thats the only xp that bootcamp can support. How come when i go to my system prefrences it saids that i am using service pack 3? did it update by itself?

Security
SP 1 did not come with a Secuity Monitor.
SP 2 come with it a Security Monitor to make sure kept on Firewall, antivirus, Automatic Updates
SP 3 Come with advance secuity Protection like is in window Vista. It bring more protection.
With each upgrade you computer is slower but less likely to hacked by a hacker.
It is possible that it installed on its own, if you have Automatic Updates configured to do that. Since Service Packs are distributed through the Windows Update server, and Automatic Updates is the application on the Windows Operating Systems that allows you to update windows without using the IE browser, it is possible that you have it configured to automatically download and install updates.
To verify this, go to
(XP Jazz Start Menu Way): Start -> Control Panel -> Automatic Updates
(XP Classic Start Menu Way): Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Automatic Updates
Hope that helps.
For the differences, Service Packs contain software for security fixes (including all previously release security patches), hotfixes (which are not security related but are more like bug fixes), and other releases of software which may contain drivers from 3rd party hardware/software vendors that are provided through Microsoft. So SP2 has all the fixes up to that point, and SP3 has fixes from SP2 up until SP3 was released.
