I originally had windows xp but installed vista and how do i dual boot i bought it as a full disk copy and its vista home premium and people are saying that have to have to hard drives but can i use the same hardrive or will the vista overwrite the xp information in that hardrive? For example i have only one drive which is Drive C: can I use that one drive for the windows xp and windows vista?

I have a full backup prepared with the Windows XP utility. I got a new hard-drive, and after installing XP, tried doing a “Restore” using the utility. This naive approach did not work because it creates a sort of hybrid between the new and the old systems… with files from the recently installed system not fully removed. Is there a way to reformat the C: Drive and restore from backup all in one shot, so that the end-result will be a pristine copy of my originally backed up system? Thanks! The two answers so far really miss the point of the question!

I was wandering if you can have Windows xp and Linux on the same computer? I know you have to partition your hard drive. But when you install it, how does your computer know if you want to boot into Windows or Linux?

OK i have a laptop running windows vista and it runs so slow. i can’t do anything with it. i was wondering i have a windows xp sp2 (9 in 1) disc and i want to install it onto my laptop will this work or do i need some other disc.

How can I get the roller coaster tycoon expansion pack to work on my windows xp?

However, when I try to install the loopy landscapes and corkscrew follies expansion pack, it no longer works. It says I don’t have the requirements or something. I would like to know what happens when you run out of letters in the alphabet but you still have more drives in Windows XP. For example, you connect 28 hard drives to 28 USB ports. What happens to the remaining drives? BTW, I already answered the question about how I would get more than 26 drives attached. Plug them into USB ports.
