- I lost my original dell computer after a power surge so I reformatted the hard drive and changed the motherboard. I reinstalled windows xp. Usually it gives you 30 days before you must activate your account, but in the same day I reinstalled, I can’t log-on because Windows is saying my 30 days is up. I may have changed the date/time and I think this may have something to do with it. When I tried to change it back, I still couldn’t log on. So (finally) my question: Where do I get a confirmation id (7 sets of 6 digits for a total of 42 numbers)??? I tried contacting MS but they say my version is already registered, which it was, however, the other computer is dead. RobinBattineau, your profile says that I cannot email you???
- Is there a way to lock a program in windows XP? In my case i want to lock Bitcomet so when I’m downloading stuff nobody can open it and mess with the download speed. I want to lock it when is the taskbar downloading something I don’t want to lock windows, just an specific program. Like for example in Schools there’s programs and stuff they lock so nobody can mess with it.

You probably will need additional drivers that XP SP1 does not have. There is a good chance that, unless you know what each of those drivers are and where to get them, your installation will not work.
yes u can surely install xp sp2 on ur laptop, bt 1st u have 2 install xp then again reinstall vista on it. if u install xp on ur laptop which has already got vista, then ur vista wont boot. so after installing xp u need to install ur vista again.

earlier version of windows should be installed first than its later version..
if your computer is slow in running vista.then i recommend you to uninstall vista and only install windows xp(9 in 1).
and after that you can also install vista..
remember to backup your imp.documents.
