  1. You cannot upgrade a 32bit system to 64bit unless your processor can support it. It sounds like you have an older computer that will not support 64bit. Drivers do not have anything to do with this transition, because it would be very unwise to do so. The best path you can take would be to buy a new computer (that is if your computer can’t do 64bit processing) that has 64bit support and get vista 64x bit. Also, XP professional x64 has a handful of bugs. When it comes to drivers, XP professional 64xbit has a lot of issues, i would steer away from going with xp professional 64x bit. Thats my suggestion. *Also, in general, as a note, whenever you upgrade from an older operating system to a newer one, there will always be bugs, it is always better to do a clean installation, meaning, back up your data onto another data medium (external hard drive, multiple dvd’s, etc.), and then install the operating system, and transfer the data back onto it.* but because you can’t really upgrade from 32 xp home to 64xbit xp professional, there isn’t really much of a point. hope i didn’t ride on you to much, sorry. Let me know if this helps
