I have a wireless router and two computers. My old Windows 98 Desktop is hard-wired and requires a password to access any shared files or folders. My Laptop connects to the network wirelessly, but I cannot make it require a password for shared files. I don’t want to set my router to require password accesss so that visitors can use the wireless for internet access. How can I set Windows XP to do this simple task that was so easy with Windows 98?

I don’t know what your problem is, you might look in the help section.

MY WinXP doesn’t have any problem at all. AS it SAYS if you can READ, you put files you want to share into a SHARED FOLDER.

As to setting “password access” and/or other security on your router OFF; this is like leaving your keys in your car and the engine running.
You are inviting ANYONE to use it, not just your visitors!!
