I need to install windows server 2003 on a computer that currently has windows XP installed on it. When I go to install windows server, an error message comes up saying that I can not upgrade from xp to server 2003. When I try to do a clean install, a blue screen error message comes up saying that a problem has occurced, the computer was shut dow to prevent damage to your computer. Any Ideas?

Well, one, you cannot “upgrade” from xp (an Operating System) to Windows Server 2003 (a Server Platform). As for the error you are receiving, that is unrelated to the “upgrade” process and is more that likely hardware related. Please re-post with the error message that is posted on the blue screen and I’m sure someone here can identify the error (regardless, Microsoft as a listing of all error codes and solutions).
Good Luck!
