I tried installing the drive and then booting the Windows XP install disk, but the PC didn’t even recognize the hard drive was there. I think this is because it’s formatted for the Mac. Is there a way from Leopard to restore my internal hard drive as if it were brand new from the factory, ready to be used on a Windows laptop? Thanks in advance for all the help.

The drive in the windows system boot it up with gparted delete the old partition then make boot it can see bsd mac or linux gparted delete the drive in the link below.
The second question it is formatted different and yes to do is download linux format now windows system boot it can be formatted to do is.
The file format is not the reason why the Windows installer cannot see any drive. A Windows installer can see a drive that is zeroed for all data. There is some other issue.
Get our hands on an external enclosure. Install the drive in it. Connect it to the Windows laptop and format the external drive. Switch the drive for the internal one, boot to the Windows disc and install.
