The motherboard is msi diamond plus the bios will allow me to configure another raid later installed in raid array using these new drives but windows xp does not recognize either drive.

  1. You’ll have to install the S-ATA drivers first (though I’m surprised XP didn’t automatically recognized them on a MSI Diamon motherboard…). S-ATA drivers are now included in the chipset distribution available on the manufacturer’s website!

  2. I think you might need to set up the drives in The Disk Management tool. Go to Start/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Management then click on Disk Management under “storage” in the list on the left. You can then partition and format your new drives.
